About Me

I am a settler on these lands, with European ancestry on both sides of my family. I grew up on the shared, unceded, traditional and ancestral territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations, colonially known as Vancouver.  I'm grateful to currently be living on the traditional and ancestral territory of the ɬaʔamɩn (Tla'amin) people, colonially known as Powell River. I recognize my privilege and responsibility as a settler and steward.

What supports me in feeling centered, grounded and alive in my life are my connections with my friends & family; spending time in nature; eating nutritious, tasty & colourful meals; moving my body (yoga, hiking, swimming, dancing, climbing, biking, skiing); and engaging with art - whether it be music, film, television, photography, or paintings.

I enjoy the slower pace of my life on the Upper Sunshine Coast, and love getting outside in every season. I also sometimes find myself missing the vibrant energy of the city, which leads to regular trips back to Vancouver to visit friends & family, eat at my favourite restaurants (especially sushi), go to concerts, and wander in my old neighbourhoods.

What I Bring

I completed my Master's of Social Work at the University of British Columbia. I am a registered clinical counsellor (RCC) with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors, and a registered social worker (RSW) with the BC College of Social Workers.

I work with adult clients (18 years or older) from diverse backgrounds who seek counselling for a variety of reasons. Please refer to the list below for the kinds of issues I tend to support people with.

I have struggled with mental health in my own life. Particularly, throughout my twenties, I suffered from anxiety and depression related to chronic illness and chronic pain. Seeking support from a clinical counsellor was crucial in getting me through this difficult time. (Note that the backpack metaphor from my homepage was imagery that came to me from my own journey).

My lived experience informs the way I engage with my clients - with empathy, patience, and the understanding that growth & healing are non-linear, deeply personal and ongoing.
